Prysmian Group, the worldwide leader in the energy and telecom cable systems leader, has signed an agreement with the Chinese contractor Talesun (acting on behalf of Shanghai Electric, main contractor for the project) for the supply of cables, accessories, monitoring systems and services and project supervision (Key Operations Management) for the Cauchari Solar Park in Argentina.

The project consists in a 315 MW photovoltaic plant, located in the Jujuy Province, close to the North-West border with Chile, at 4,100 m altitude in one of the areas with the greatest solar resource in the world. The solar park will be able to generate a monthly average of 55,073 MWh, which will be conveyed to the 345 kV line that links the Chilean town of Andes with the town of Cobos, in the province of Salta offering the Argentinian system an annual average of 660,887 MWh for 20 years.

The Cauchari solar park is the first project officially signed by the Governments of Argentina and China as part of the OBOR (“One Belt One Road”) initiative and related extensions. Prysmian Group will provide a total of more than 3,600 km of Instrumentation & ControlMedium VoltageLow Voltage and Solar cables from China (Tianjin and Yixing plants), more than 1,100 Medium Voltage accessories and connectors from China (Yixing plant), 100 Pry-Cam Grids and 1 Pry-Cam Portable for monitoring from Prysmian Electronics and supervision services (KOM) for both MV Accessories and Pry-Cam supplied by the team in Argentina.

We leveraged the internal synergies within the Group with the close cooperation of the different regions and teams involved to fulfil the complex requirements of the project. This is a milestone example of global integration and teamwork within Prysmian”, stated Matteo BavarescoCEO Prysmian Group China.

This project provides clear evidence of the fact that developers of renewable power plants consider more and more monitoring services as part of the scope of work, as they realize how condition assessment and asset management are essential and beneficial for the effective operation of the plants. Our Pry-Cam is a revolutionary solution that serves to the purpose”, added Roberto CandelaCEO of Prysmian Electronics.
